Colombo, on the morning of July 28, 2025,
Our delegation—including the Most Venerable Elder Ratanaguṇa Bửu Đức, Venerable Wimalakitti, several lay Buddhists from the United States and Vietnam, and myself—arrived at Colombo Airport, Sri Lanka, marking the beginning of a significant Dhamma mission.
At the airport, we were deeply honored to be formally received by the Most Venerable Elder Ananda—the Supreme Patriarch of one of the major Buddhist traditions in Sri Lanka—along with Mr. Dasana Hethiarachi (former military general), Hon. Dr. Asoka Sapumal Ranwala (former Speaker of Parliament), the Director of Colombo Airport, several government officials, and members of the press and media. At the terminal, the Venerables and government representatives participated in a media session, offering interviews to various television channels and news outlets about the purpose and significance of this journey.
Afterward, a traditional ensemble of drums and horns, accompanied by police officers and local government representatives, solemnly escorted our delegation from the airport to the midday rest location. The reverent and joyful atmosphere of this ceremonial welcome marked the beginning of our Dhamma mission on the sacred island of Sri Lanka.
