Walk For Peace – The first 30 days

ONE MONTH: THE INITIAL JOURNEY OF THE WALK FOR PEACE

True peace is not a quality that can be found in the world outside. True peace arises only from an inner stillness, from a heart opened wide with boundless compassion and unconditional forbearance.

In life, there are rare and beautiful moments that we engrave in our memories forever.
They do not come from luxury, worldly vanity, or mundane achievements, but from the quiet calming of the inner mind, from the joy, and the reverence shown toward the steadfast resolve that nourishes the perfections pāramī of the Venerable Practitioners.

Today marks exactly one month (Oct 26, 2025) since the Sangha took their first steps for the Walk for Peace, departing Fort Worth, Texas, with the journey of passing through ten states of the United States, and heading toward the final destination of Washington, D.C.

Thirty days presented no small challenge:
Blistered feet, bleeding and aching, long miles traversed through sun, wind, rain, dew, and the dust of the world.
Yet, the hearts of the noble practitioners have not wavered.
Through the practice of mindful awareness, firm resolve, and the virtue of patience (Khantī), they continue to walk forward, serene, composed, and powerfully tranquil.

The Blessed One taught:
“Bhikkhus, just as a bird sustains its life with only its wings and its beak,
so too, a bhikkhu lives with merely his three robes and his alms bowl.”
Mahāvagga, Vinaya Piṭaka I.30.4

The monastic Sangha, like tireless wings in flight, sows wholesome seeds in the hearts of those who are destined to meet them and offer reverence along the path.

There were joyful bows and greetings from strangers who were learning of the Dhamma for the first time, and there were tears that fell, not from suffering, but from happiness, from recognizing a rare moment of peace in their lives.
Because true peace does not arise from material factors or external conditions, but from the mind knowing how to settle down, turn inward to reflect on oneself, and silently resolve: “Today Is Going To Be My Peaceful Day.”
In that very moment, a wholesome seed blossomed in a soul that might have seemed hardened.

These past thirty days are truly the beginning and the preparation for the days that lie ahead.

May the powerful protection of the Triple Gem, and the guardianship of the Devas, ensure that the Venerable Monks are always safe, well-supported, and peaceful with every step, every mile, sowing limitless good karmic affinity with all beings, families, and communities.

May the profound meaning of the Walk for Peace continue to spread, like the light transferring from one lamp to another, never diminishing.
Walk for Peace – We walk to bless all beings, so that the seed of peace may take root, and love, understanding, and compassion may spread in all directions.
