Walk for Peace – Day 9

Day 9 of the Walk for Peace: Steps Toward the Heart of Texas
Austin, Texas – November 3, 2025

On the morning of November 3, 2025, the Walk for Peace continued its ninth day as the monks departed Georgetown, Texas, after a period of early morning chanting and prayers for humanity and global harmony. The group, led by Venerable Bhikkhu Paññākāra Tuệ Nhân has now covered more than 160 miles since the journey began, walking in mindful solidarity to promote compassion, unity, and peace.

The monks and their supporters traveled approximately nine miles before pausing for a brief midday break near St. David Hospital and the United States Postal Service along Interstate 35. Following a simple meal offered by followers and local well-wishers, the Walk resumed its course toward Austin, covering an additional eleven miles before concluding the day’s journey at 16401 Summit Drive, Austin, Texas.

Throughout the day, the Walk for Peace received heartfelt support from Buddhist practitioners, interfaith communities, and residents who came forward to offer water, food, and words of encouragement. Each act of kindness reflected the growing ripple of goodwill and awareness inspired by the monks’ presence and message.

As dusk gave way to nightfall, the monks gathered once more at 8:00 p.m. to perform evening chanting, extending prayers to all beings—particularly those enduring hardship or conflict. Their voices resonated through the cool night air, symbolizing hope and harmony in a world seeking peace.

Day 9 concluded under the quiet skies of Austin, marking another meaningful step in a journey that transcends distance—a living testament to the enduring power of compassion in action. The Walk for Peace continues tomorrow, as the monks make their way toward the Texas State Capitol, where Austin will welcome them with open hearts and a citywide proclamation of “Austin Walk for Peace Day” on November 5.
