A Day of Healing, Reflection, and Collective Compassion
Day 26 of the Walk For Peace unfolded not upon the open roads of Texas, but within a space of quiet reflection, deep gratitude, and renewed reverence for life. After yesterday evening’s accident along U.S. 90 near Dayton, the Sangha began the morning with solemn prayers – prayers for safety, recovery, and for all beings who extended their hearts in concern.
The monk who underwent emergency surgery earlier today has now passed the most critical stage of healing. The procedure went well, and he is currently awake, stable, and resting comfortably under medical care. His resilience, coupled with the extraordinary support from medical teams and the global community, brought a sense of relief and renewed hope to everyone walking this sacred journey.
The remaining monks, though experiencing minor injuries, are physically stable and emotionally anchored in their vows of compassion. Out of respect for the healing process – and in honor of the countless prayers that continue to arrive from around the world – the Sangha has chosen to pause the physical walk today. Instead, they are using this time to reflect upon the first 400 miles of their journey, to hold the injured monk in their collective metta, and to extend gratitude to the many supporters who have offered love, concern, and blessings during this difficult moment.
This pause is not a halt in spirit. The Walk For Peace continues through each breath, each prayer, and each intention shared by those who believe in its purpose. The Sangha will resume the physical journey only when the injured monk’s condition and the well-being of the entire group are fully assessed and the time is right – when inner strength and outer readiness align once more.
Today, Day 26 stands as a powerful reminder:
that peace is not only walked;
it is lived, protected, and nurtured –
especially in moments of vulnerability.
