Walk for Peace – Day 10

Day 10 of Walk For Peace – Under the Supermoon of Mindful Steps
November 4, 2025

As dawn broke over Austin, a quiet determination filled the air. The monks, wrapped in their saffron robes, resumed their sacred walk under the cooling breath of an early November morning. Their next destination was not far now—just eight miles separated them from the heart of the Texas State Capitol. Each step, measured and mindful, echoed the rhythm of ancient practice and the timeless pursuit of peace.

From Summit Drive to Ferguson Lane, the Sangha journeyed twelve miles through the streets of Austin, their presence a gentle contrast to the hum of modern life. Along the way, practitioners and supporters continued to offer water, food, and words of encouragement—small yet profound acts of compassion that wove humanity closer together.

As daylight softened into evening, the monks prepared for the Full Moon recitation of the Patimokkha at 5:00 PM local time. The moon, luminous and vast, rose in the November sky—the second of three consecutive supermoons, and the closest of the year. Its brilliance mirrored the purity of intention carried through every mile of the Walk for Peace. Under its glow, the Sangha gathered in quiet reflection, their voices in chant rising like waves of serenity across the city.

By the end of the tenth day, 172 miles had been marked by their footsteps. The monks were now just a few miles away from the State Capitol, where leaders and communities awaited to honor their journey and the message they carried.

Official Quote – November 4, Walk for Peace
“The supermoon above may be the closest to Earth, yet the truest illumination lies within each mindful heart. As the monks draw near to the Capitol, their light reminds us that peace is not a destination, but a state of being—cultivated with each breath, each step, and each act of compassion shared along the way.”
