Project Status Updates from April to December 2023

  • The procedure for rezoning the land to religious land use has been in process.
  • The area’s infrastructure suitability study has been completed, and the result was found to be feasible for the project’s scale.
  • In the process of selecting architects and engineers specialized in stone construction to complete the detailed drawings.
  • Further exploration of marble resources in the US and Myanmar is ongoing.
  • Surveyed the world’s best marble source in India.
  • The construction of a model stupa using Makrana marble from India was completed.
  • Continuing to consult contractors specializing in marble construction.
  • Venerable senior monks from various countries are being invited to establish the Council for the Accuracy Assessment of the Tipiṭaka.
  • The collection of Tipiṭaka Pāḷi Texts is in progress, including the Codes of Discipline (Vinaya Piṭaka), Collection of Discourses (Sutta Piṭaka), Analytic/Higher Teachings (Abhidhamma Piṭaka)
  • Obtained authorization to use the meditation methods from Mahasi and Shwe Oo Min Meditation School for the project.
  • Established a partnership with Pāḷi University in Mumbai for scripture translation and accuracy assessment.

     

    Project Promotion to the Public

    August 14-20, 2023 in Vietnam
  • Locations: Bửu Long Pagoda, Viên Không Nunery, Hà Đông, Ninh Bình, Đà Nẵng.
  • Results: The project was presented to Senior Venerables of the Theravāda tradition and lay devotees in Vietnam. Donation reception points and project support committees in Vietnam were established.

     

    November 2023 – December 2023 in Nepal, India, Myanmar
    Locations:
  • Buddhist pilgrimage sites in India and Nepal.
  • Myanmar: Meditation Centers, Monasteries, International Theravada Buddhist University (ITBMU).
  • Events: 18th Pāḷi Tipiṭaka Chanting Ceremony, Dhamma Diksha International Conference.

     

    Results:The project was introduced directly to Senior Venerables of the Mahā Sangha
  • Supreme Patriarch of Cambodia
  • Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, Phra Dhambodhivong (in India and Nepal).
  • Indian Dhutaṅga Head Monk
  • The Venerables from Myanmar, Cambodia, and Tibetan Lamas at the 18th Pāḷi Tipiṭaka Chanting Ceremony
  • Venerable U Tejaniya, Abbot and Managing Director of Shwe Oo Min Meditation Center
  • The Rector Sayadaw of The International Theravāda Buddhist Missionary University (ITBMU)
  • The 5th Tipiṭakadhara Tipiṭakakovida Dhammabhaṇḍāgārika Most Venerable Sīrindābhivaṃsa (Yaw Sayadaw)
  • Meditation master, Dr. Bhaddanta Sobhana (Shwe Min Wun Sayadaw)
  • Sayadaw Dr. Nandamālābhivaṃsa

     

    The project was introduced to governments and organizations:
  • Prime Minister of Nepal; Lumbini Development Trust
  • Pāḷi Tipiṭaka Chanting Council

     

    The project was also presented to monks, nuns, and the public at all locations.
    Donation reception points were established in Bodhgaya, India, and Yangon, Myanmar.
