[BILINGUAL] Day 3

Sri Lanka, Morning of July 30, 2025

Our delegation arrived at the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress, located in Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo. This was a cordial meeting between the monastics and lay devotees representing the Dhammacetiya Project and Mr. Chandra Nimal Wakishta, Hon. President, along with professors, scholars, and officials from the Sri Lankan government.

We shared our journey of spreading the Dhamma in the West and our activities in recent years, as well as the Dhammacetiya Project and our heartfelt aspiration to host a sacred relic procession of the Buddha for the 2026 Vesak Celebration.

Hon. President Chandra Nimal Wakishta and Former Sri Lankan Representative to the United Nations, Hon. Palitha Kohona, expressed great joy and deep sympathy for the challenges faced in spreading the Dhamma in countries where Buddhism is not the state religion. They also expressed their wholehearted support for the Dhammacetiya Project, recognizing it as a noble endeavor to honor, propagate, and preserve the sublime teachings of the Dhamma.

Part 2

In the afternoon, our delegation visited the Colombo City Hall to meet with Mayor Vraie Cally Balthazaar and present our efforts to obtain the Buddha's relics in Colombo. She was deeply moved by the initiative and wholeheartedly pledged her support for this noble mission.

Part 3

At the end of the day, we convened a meeting with Her Excellency Harini Amarasuriya, the Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, the second most powerful official in the country after the President.

Our delegation—including Venerable Wimalakitti, myself, and several lay devotees—was received at the Prime Minister’s office. Due to health reasons, the Most Venerable Elder Ratanaguna Bửu Đức was unable to attend. At 5 p.m., we shared our aspirations and discussed our ongoing efforts to spread the Dhamma.

After our sharing, Her Excellency Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya expressed great admiration and praise for the noble aspiration behind the Dhammacetiya Stupa complex. She emphasized that this is a righteous and truly remarkable endeavor to help preserve the timeless truths taught by the Buddha.

The Prime Minister further remarked that Buddhism is a path of compassion and wisdom; its values must be continually spread so that more people may experience happiness. She also commended our upcoming program, Walk for Peace, at the end of this year, calling it an incredible journey to spread the Dhamma. She conveyed her heartfelt wishes that we may be endowed with strength and well-being as we continue on the path ahead.

Finally, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya expressed her sincere wish to contribute to the noble mission of spreading the Dhamma by the Saṅgha in the United States. She also joyfully conveyed her intention to attend the 2026 Vesak Celebration barring any obstacles.

Đoàn chúng tôi đã có mặt tại Tòa Nhà Quốc Hội Phật Giáo, tọa lạc tại Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo. Đây là buổi giao hảo giữa chư Tăng, Phật tử đại diện dự án Bảo Tháp Tàng Kinh Thánh Điển và Ông Chandra Nimal Wakishta, Hon. President và những giáo sư tiến sĩ cùng chính quyền Tích Lan.

Chúng tôi đã chia sẻ hành trình lan tỏa Phật Pháp tại phương Tây và những hoạt động trong những năm gần đây, cũng như dự án Bảo Tháp Dhammacetiya và tâm nguyện tổ chức lễ cung rước Xá Lợi Đức Phật cho lễ Vesak 2026.

Hon. President Chandra Nimal Wakishta và Cựu đại diện của Tích Lan tại Liên Hiệp Quốc – Hon. Palitha Kohona đã rất hoan hỷ và đồng cảm cùng những khó khăn trong việc xiển dương Chánh Pháp ở những quốc gia không có Quốc Giáo là Phật Giáo. Các Vị cũng hoan hỷ đồng hành với công trình xây dựng Bảo Tháp Dhammacetiya vì đây là một cách tôn vinh, hoằng truyền và giữ gìn Giáo Pháp cao quý.

Phần 2

Sau buổi trưa, đoàn đã đến tòa thị chính thành phố Colombo để gặp gỡ và chia sẻ cùng Bà Thị Trưởng Vraie Cally Balthazaar về việc hỗ trợ việc thỉnh Xá Lợi tại Colombo.
Bà đã rất hoan hỷ khi biết về chương trình và đã nguyện góp sức cho sứ mệnh này.

Phần 3

Cuối ngày là buổi họp cùng với Nữ Thủ Tướng Cộng Hòa Chủ Nghĩa Dân Chủ Tích Lan – Bà Harini Amarasuriya, người đứng đầu chính phủ Tích Lan, là nhân vật quyền lực thứ 2 sau Tổng Thống.

Đoàn chúng chúng tôi gồm có Ngài Wimalakitti, tôi và chư Phật tử đã có mặt tại phủ Thủ Tướng. Vì lý do sức khỏe nên Ngài Trưởng Lão Bửu Đức không tham dự được. Vào lúc 5 giờ chiều, chúng tôi thảo luận và chia sẻ tâm tư nguyện vọng trên bước đường hoằng Pháp.
Sau những lời chia sẻ của chúng tôi, Nữ Thủ Tướng Harini Amarasuriya đã lấy làm thán phục và tán dương hạnh nguyện xây dựng quần thể Bảo Tháp Dhammacetiya. Bà nhấn mạnh: đó là việc chính đáng và tuyệt vời biết bao để góp phần gìn giữ chân lý Đức Phật đã dạy.
Nữ Thủ Tướng nhắn nhủ thêm: Đạo Phật là Đạo từ bi và trí tuệ, cần làm cho những giá trị đó luôn lan tỏa khắp nơi cho nhiều người được hạnh phúc. Bà cũng tán thán hành trình đi bộ vì hòa bình cuối năm nay của chúng tôi là một hành trình tuyệt vời để lan tỏa Phật Pháp, và chúc cho chúng tôi đầy đủ sức khỏe trên hành trình này.

Cuối cùng, Nữ Thủ Tướng Harini Amarasuriya cũng muốn đóng góp sức mình vào sứ mệnh hoằng truyền Phật Pháp của chư Tăng trên xứ cờ Hoa và hoan hỷ tham dự chương trình Vesak 2026 nếu không có gì trở ngại.
