Your mind connects to your body, and is influenced by the body. When the body relaxes, the mind can meditate easily. The way you treat yourself is very important, because it is also your attitude in life. It is this mental attitude that is important.
The forceful and controlling attitude, when telling the body, ”you are tired, but I don’t care, you have to meditate”, will cause adverse effects in meditation. That harsh attitude of wanting everything in life to follow our desire is what prevents the inner peace from happening.
In other words, although the mind is separated from the body, it is influenced by the body. The thought of “I need to rest now” is the kindness toward oneself during meditation. That kindness, that relaxation, is the real cause of being tranquil and content.
