🙏 Reflection from Phra Supalak – Photographer of the Walk for Peace
We would like to share this deeply moving reflection from Phra Supalak, one of the venerable monks of the journey and also the main photographer who took most of the photos for the Walk for Peace:
“Throughout this journey, I simply intended to walk in order to share peace, loving-kindness, and goodwill with everyone we met along the way.
Yet what I received in return was far more than I ever expected.
Every time I saw children and adults standing by the roadside to welcome us—some smiling, some with their hands folded in respect, some with tears in their eyes—I felt something very deep in my heart. It was not just a welcome for travelers. It was a welcome for hope, for goodness, and for the belief that peace still truly exists in this world.
As I served as a photographer during this walk, I tried my best to capture those moments. But many times, I could not hold back my own tears. I found myself crying along with them, because I could feel the sincerity, the purity, and the kindness that were being shared without the need for any words.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who came out to welcome us—both children and adults. Every gaze, every tear, every gesture of encouragement became the strength that gave this walk a meaning far beyond the physical distance we traveled.
What I witnessed along the way reassured me that peace is not far away. It lives in the hearts of people. And when hearts open to one another, the world immediately becomes more gentle.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.” – Phra Supalak
