Walk for Peace – Day 2 Recap
Burleson, Texas – October 27, 2025 – At 5:00 AM, the Walk for Peace resumed with the soft yet powerful resonance of morning chanting and prayers at the resting site in Burleson, Texas. The monks began their day as they do every morning—with deep mettā (loving-kindness) and karuṇā (compassion) meditations—sending blessings to all beings and aspirations for peace throughout the world. The sacred sound of their chanting carried through the still dawn air, a reminder of mindfulness, interconnection, and the enduring power of inner peace.
Following their morning ritual, the monks continued their second day of the journey. By noon, they reached Alvarado, Texas, where they paused for a simple meal offering and mid-day prayers, maintaining the spirit of gratitude and mindfulness that guides their walk.
The afternoon brought new challenges. The Texas sun grew stronger, and the long miles began to weigh heavily on their feet. Blisters, swelling, and bruises emerged from the strain of walking—many of them were barefoot—yet they carried on, unwaveringly focused on their vow: to walk for peace and the awakening of humanity.
After covering nearly 21 miles, the monks arrived at Grandview, Texas, where they settled in for the night. Despite physical exhaustion, they practiced mindfulness and stillness, finding balance between body and mind. At 5:00 AM, the morning bell tolled once again, awakening the monks to chant, reflect, and continue their sacred Walk for Peace.
