Academic Learning
Sayādaw Ashin Thitzana studied Pāli at an early age and further pursued his advanced monastic studies in Tipitaka Buddhist Pāli canonical texts in the Ma-Soe-Yein Thaik-Thit Monastery in Mandalay, which is a center of Buddhist Studies where nearly three thousand Buddhist monks and young novices receive their monastic education in the present day Myanmar. Successfully completed two and half Pitaka major Buddhist texts study exams by being able to memorize the Vinaya Pitaka & Suttanta Pitaka and the first five texts of Abhidhamma Pitaka together with commentary and sub-commentarial studies.
Academic Titles Received Sayādaw achieved various educational degrees for outstanding achievements conferred by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Government of Myanmar, among which are: – Sāsanadaja Sirīpavara Dhammācariya (The equivalent of lecturer in Pāli Language). – Vinaya Pāli Pāragu (an equivalent of Ph.D in Pāli Language) – Vinaya Dhara, Vinaya Kovida (Scholar of Vinaya Pitaka Buddhist Texts) – Dīghabhāṇaka , Dīghanikāya Kovida (Scholar of Suttanta Pitaka Texts) – bhidhammika , bhidhamma Kovida (Scholar of Abhidhamma Texts)
Teaching Experience
Taught Pāli courses, Abhidhamma (Buddhist psychology) and Buddhist texts to students in Masoeyein Thaik-thit Monastery (1974-1978)
Taught at Pinsanikāya Sāsanabeikman monastery, Yangon, from 1979 to 1995 until migrated to USA.
Regularly leads meditation retreats and sometimes conducts Pāli study classes in USA, Canada, Singapore.
